Research suggests writing groups are an excellent source of peer mentorship (Sarnecka, 2019). During the height of the Coronavirus pandemic, at a time of heightened disconnection and stress, GENMAC conceived of ‘Virtual Writing Retreats’, to create a space for gender and marketing scholars to work on their research. The GENMAC Virtual Writing Retreats should not be perceived as a call to “be more productive” but rather as an opportunity to bring our community together through our shared passion for gender scholarship. We are committed to holding GENMAC Virtual Writing Retreats to accommodate multiple time zones for scholars around the globe.
PREVIOUS VIRTUAL WRITING RETREATS
The two-hour session provides dedicated quiet writing time, breaking occasionally to share research goals and collective support. The writing retreat creates an inclusive space for gender, consumption, and marketing scholars to build community—particularly for junior scholars (e.g., doctoral students, early career researchers) who may not have direct mentorship in gender-focused research.
The writing retreats are limited to 25 participants. Registration is first-come, first-serve.
Future dates will be added soon. If you have questions, please contact us.
